However, and perhaps more importantly, we are about a Conservative understanding of things:

This website is about the encouragement and promotion of ideas at the foundation of American Exceptionalism, including the founding premise of the guiding hand of our Creator. It is on the rock of this premise that American Conservatism and the continued existence of the United States of America stands, without exception. From this perspective, as this is written on January 20, 2009, the author of this website, the Mountain Observer, considers the continued existence of the United States of America to be in great peril.

This is not the first time that the actual existence of this country has been mortally threatened. It would seem that the point of greatest danger was on July 4^th, 1776, and a list of additional dates comes readily to the mind of the informed, including the challenges of the 1860’s. However, the glue that held us all together through those perilous times, and beyond, including the challenges of the 20^th Century up through the end of World War II, was our general sense of being Americans, with a common language and cultural background, even as our Judeo-Christian founding inspirations had begun to tatter in the second half of the 19th Century.

There are those who would challenge the premise of our Judeo-Christian founding inspirations. Such challenge has been with us from the beginning, however this is factually wrong. This error occurs through simple historical ignorance or, certainly in more recent times, through malign intentions. The Mountain Observer will argue that it is through the corrosive effects of Secular Progressivism, sometimes innocent, however more generally hostile and subversive, that the genuine gift of our original founding is in mortal danger and the continued existence of this nation, one nation, indivisible and under God, is now problematic. Yes, and this matters, for the whole world. I fear that we are all on the threshold of discovering this point in a very hard, difficult and bloody way. It will be the price to be paid for colossal ignorance, carefully cultivated amongst us over decades reaching, at least as far back as the French Revolution, by those of ill purpose. I pray for the soul of this nation.
